We just got this via email!
In China, before a child can be classified as an orphan, they must publish a child in the local newspaper where they were found. If no one claims the baby, then they can officially be put up for adoption. Thanks to another adoptive mom (thank you Angela W.) - we were put in touch with someone who could find the newspaper article Olivia was published in!! So, we don't know what it says yet, or what specifics it gives, but this is our baby when she was just days old!! :)

I assume she's the sweet baby with the white bonnet |

You have already captured our hearts - now you will fill our everyday with unexplicable joy!!!
Oh Yay! So glad you got it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks just like her too.
It won't be long now, you'll have her in your arms before you know it.
I am happy for this beautiful baby, who is finding her way to a forever home. here is a rough translation from the Chinese Newspaper:
ReplyDeleteYang, fu-Bing, Female, was found on Jan 13, 2010, by the front Gate of "China Mobile" on Jei-fang Road, Heng-Yang city.
she was about 4 days old, (she has) round face, big eyes but no hair. she wore a blue "Xi-yang-yang" cotton quilted jacket, was bundled up in a fuchsia blanket, 2 cans of infant formula powder & some clothes were also found along with her.
(P.s. "Xi-yang-yang" is a little lamb, a Chinese Cartoon charactor whose popularity beats "Ku-fung" Panda.)
Thank you SO much dollsaga!! BTW - I was just looking at another blog - Courtney's blog, and saw your name on there. Do you know that family? They just returned home with a precious little boy named Joshua. I don't know them, I was just reading her blog and saw your name. I couldn't believe it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your translation! We had no idea what it said, but we are SO thankful to be able to tell our sweet Olivia how much her birth mommy and daddy loved her. :)
you are welcome, Julia. I have been following Courtney's blog since her family first adopted Issac from China a year ago. I took interests in adotption after attending an event "Chinese Culture Day" organized by FCC (Families with Children from China).
ReplyDeleteI found a picture of "China Mobile" on Jie-fang Road, Heng-Yang City, Hu Nan province, China, where your baby was found. you may want to save this picture: http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/12335737.jpg
